Federated States of Micronesia

In the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), the Climate Finance Capacity Support Programme (CFCSP) is supporting the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management to deliver a series of workshops to raise awareness of FSM’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and develop state-level implementation and coordination work plans. The workshops will identify how states will deliver on the NDC priorities, their financing and capacity support needs, and establish cross-government coordination mechanisms. The CFCSP will support delivery of these work plans by providing ongoing technical support to all 4 states and at the national level. This platform will assist FSM to shape its NDC implementation to the needs of each state, while consolidating priorities to support its discussions with funding partners.

Parametric drought insurance, Government of FSM

The Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC), technical specialists from GeoSY LLC and the CFCSP are supporting FSM to design sovereign parametric drought insurance products. Aiming to create tailored insurance solutions that will provide rapid and predictable financial support when pre-defined drought thresholds are reached, PCRIC’s support will enable the Government of FSM to response swiftly and effectively to future drought events.

NDC Workshop Facilitator, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management

In March 2025, FSM’s Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management placed a request with the CFCSP for support in the delivery of NDC workshops, designed to allow national and state-level officials to plan NDC action. As the NDC Workshop Facilitator, Mahendra Kumar raised awareness about NDCs and unpacked the details of the current national NDC to ensure they are reflective of national climate priorities.
